Hong Kongs Budget 2007/08 bringt diverse Steuersenkungen.
Am letzten Tag des -sonst primär vom den chinesischen Neujahrsfeiern und entsprechender Ferienstimmung geprägten- Monats Februar verkündete unser Finanzminister Henry Tang heute seine Budgetvorschläge für Hong Kongs kommendes Finanzjahr, das vom 1. 4. 07 bis 31. 3. 2008 läuft.
Allgemein war erwartet worden, dass er große Teile des in 2006/07 erzielten Einnahmenüberschusses der Regierung an den Steuerzahler zurückschaufelt. Dem hat Henry Tang nun insofern Rechnung getragen, als er
· Die Lohnsteuer (Salaries tax) für Private auf das Niveau von 2002/03 zurückführt; nämlich auf max. 15 % (von derzeit 16);
· die von jedem Immobilienbesitzer in Hong Kong vierteljährlich an die Regierung (als Eigentümer allen Landes) zu zahlenden Erbpacht (Rates) wird für zwei Quartale erlassen;
· Die Stempelsteuer für (kleinere) Immobilientransaktionen zwischen HKD 1 Mio. und 2. Mio. wird auf HKD 100.- reduziert;
· Die Steuer auf Spirituosen mit max. 30 % Alkoholgehalt halbiert sich. Bei Wein z. B. von derzeit 80 auf 40%.

Hong Kong’s Budget 2007/08 to Bring a Variety of Tax Cuts.
Today Hong Kong’s Financial Secretary, Henry Tang, held his long awaited budget speech for the coming fiscal year, which runs from April 1, 2007 to March 31, 2008. Expectations all around were high, as government income in the current year had been far higher than foreseen, and the proverbial man in the street would settle for nothing less than tangible tax cuts.
To shovel a major portion of this surplus back into taxpayers’ pockets, Henry Tang now unveiled the following steps:
· Reduction of salaries tax back to 2002/03 levels, when the maximum rate was 15% (against presently 16);
· 2 quarterly government rates, payable on all real estate in Hong Kong, shall be waived;
· Stamp duty on real estate transactions between HKD 1 Mio. and 2 Mio. shall be reduced to HKD 100.-;
· Duty on spirits with max. 30 per cent alcohol content shall be halved (e.g. for wine from presently 80 to 40 %).
